The protesters alleged that the TMC is trying to make water a commodity of the rich owing to the conditions laid out by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). “Since a new water connection costs Rs 8,000, poor people will be denied of the facility. Besides the TMC has decided to disconnect all the public taps,” they alleged.

The activists took out a jatha from Abbakka Circle to the TMC office where a protest meet was held. Speaking on the occasion, DYFI District President Munir Katipalla alleged that the TMC working on the instructions of a foreign bank is on the imperialistic path.  DYFI office-bearers Mahabala, Jayaram Kuttar, Ashok Shetty Chembugudde and others were present.
