Three arrested for jewellery theft

The district DCIB has arrested a group of people that burgled gold jewellery from houses in Madikeri, Virajpet and Gonikoppa.

T A Salim of Somvarpet, Anil Kumar and K Sharat of Garangandur village are the arrested. Another accused is absconding.

Valuables worth Rs 18 lakh including cash, 492 gm golden jewellery, revolver, gun, bike and car have been seized from the accused, said Superintendent of Police P Rajendra Prasad.

Salim is a repeat offender and had been to jail earlier in a theft case.

Two teams were formed to nab the accused.

DCIB police inspector M Mahesh, city circle inspector Medappa headed the team. The police personnel will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 10,000 each, the SP said.
