The Siddaramaiah government has ambitiously pushed the Indira Canteen, a chain of government-run canteens that provide food at subsidised costs, to cover a large area in Bengaluru and is planning to expand to other areas in Karnataka. The government also prides itself in the quality of food and hygiene of the kitchens as well.

However, today, a bug has crept into the government's grand plan. In a video that surfaced today on the Facebook page 'Fight for Right', a man is seen recording a plate of food in an Indira canteen, which has a cockroach in it.

The video, 1:38 minutes in length, shows a blurry, but recognisable image of the dreaded bugs, a cockroach and what appears to be a fly in a plate, with a Kannada caption, saying "Adding cockroaches to food, Indira Canteen is giving non-veg to people". According to sources, the canteen in question is in Kottigepalya, ward 73.
