“I believe in destiny,” Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi said on Thursday, when quizzed about his marriage plans.

The 47-year-old, who is tipped to take over as party president soon, was asked about his marriage plans by boxer Vijender Singh during an interaction at the 112th annual session of the PHD Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

“This is an old question. I believe in destiny. It will happen when it has to happen,” Rahul quipped.

Vijender said he and his wife always wonder when Rahul would get married. “I tell her that it is more fun to get married after becoming the prime minister,” the Olympics bronze medallist said.

Rahul also revealed his sportier side, saying he devoted one hour daily for a sporting activity. He disclosed that he was a black belt in Aikodo, a Japanese martial art.

“I exercise, run, swim and also hold a black belt in Aikido. But I don’t talk about it publicly. Sports is important in my life,” Rahul said.

“RG believes in destiny but stays fit in the interim,” Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said on Twitter.
