Cong wants elections to BBMP standing committees be postponed

The elections to the posts of the BBMP standing committee chairmen, scheduled on October 27, have been postponed for a week.

At a meeting at the office of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) here on Thursday, the senior leaders requested the Regional Commissioner, Jayanthi, to postpone the elections.

After the meeting, KPCC working president Dinesh Gundu said, “We were ready for the elections, but the JD(S) has requested for a postponement. The elections will be held in a week’s time. It is not an easy task to conduct elections as everybody’s consent is must. The regional commissioner will ultimately decide on what is best.”

Ministers Ramalinga Reddy and Roshan Baig, legislators N A Haris, P R Ramesh, Munirathna, Byrathi Suresh, S T Somashekar, R V Devaraj and Mayor R Sampath Raj attended the meeting.
