When important personalities visit the district there are many anxious people who want to draw the attention of such dignitaries with their skills and craft. And here is one such cobbler, who has a wish to present the handmade footwear as a gift to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is visiting the city on October 29.

Cobbler Ambadas Hamelapure has prepared this special piece fully with the leather to present as a gift to PM Modi.

Putting two days of hard labour, he prepared the special gift and wishes to present it to
the prime minister on his scheduled visit to the city on Sunday. From past four generations, the family is engaged in manufacturing footwear. Hamelapure had stuck the idea of gifting a pair of footwear to PM Modi as his great-grandfather S K Mouli Hamelapure had gifted a similar pair of handmade footwear to former president late Rajendra Prasad whom had visited the district during 1962, he said.

Being in business from past 18 years Hamelapure prepared this special item which weighs around 300 grams. While preparing the special piece all due care was taken. However, he is quite unsure whether he would get an opportunity to meet prime minister because of the tight security arrangements.
