Hampi all set for light and sound spectacle

Hampi, the temple town of Karnataka, is all set to host the three-day Hampi Utsav from Friday.

Preparations are on in full swing to host the cultural extravaganza. As many as 11 are being readied for over 450 programmes.

Artistes of national and international fame will be showcasing their talent. Several well-known singers including Kunal Ganjawala, Shaan and Gurukiran among others will perform during the three-day cultural extravaganza. 'Karnataka Vaibhava' a light and sound show, and the 'Royal Durbar', a laser show, are the highlights of the Utsav.

The UNESCO world heritage site is resplendent with hues and illumination, setting the celebration mood. The akharas for holding the wrestling bouts have been laid at Hosamalapanagudi.

The police have installed CCTV cameras in 50 places. As many as 3,000 constables have been deployed at various venues.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the event 6 pm on Friday. Prior to this, the chief minister will inaugurate the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Biodiversity Park and the Indira Priyadarshini Deer Park at Kamalapur near Hampi.
