KIA commences winter schedule for 2017-18

The Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) here has commenced its winter schedule 2017-18 with an enhanced 614 daily Air Traffic Movements (ATMs).

This will go up to 660 ATM per day as the season progresses, a projected growth of 19% in overall ATMs.

Between now and March 2018, two new airlines are scheduled to start operations and four new routes are to be added to the network. New airlines that will begin operations from KIA are Malindo Air linking travellers to Kuala Lumpur twice each week and DHL Aviation (cargo) that will operate to Bahrain once a week from the Bengaluru airport.

A new daily flight by Jet Airways to Amsterdam has already started operations. So have operations to Silchar via Kolkata and a flight to Udaipur via Delhi. Indigo will start two daily flights to Tirupati starting December 20. The top domestic carriers for this schedule will be Indigo and Jet Airways, while Emirates and Etihad Airways will be the top international carriers.


The planned average international movement per day during Winter 2017 is expected to grow by 7%, compared to the previous season with planned average international movements per day in Summer 2017 and Winter 2017 being 72 and 76 ATMs, respectively.

Domestic Operations from planned Summer 2017 to planned Winter 2017 is expected to touch 10% growth. Planned average domestic movements per day in Summer 2017 was at 526 ATMs and planned average domestic movements per day for winter is expected to clock 577 ATMs, a release from Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) said.

The domestic and International share of ATMs is projected to be 89% and 11%, respectively, for Winter 2017. During Winter 2017, the hourly runway capacity will be at 38 ATMs per hour while total movements per week is expected to be at 4,577.
