Two mentally-ill minor sisters raped by shelter home director

Two mentally-ill minor sisters have accused a 60-year-old director of a shelter home of raping them, police said.

The accused, Poonamchand Malviya, has been arrested and sent to judicial custody by a court in Khandwa based on the complaint lodged by the girls, City Superintendent of Police (CSP) S N Tiwari said.

While one sister is 13 years old, the other is 15 years. Both of them were staying in the shelter home for the differently-abled where Malviya is director.

"According to the younger sister, Malviya called her to his room on Sunday on the pretext of giving her food and sexually assaulted her," Tiwari said.

"Both the girls escaped from the shelter home on Sunday night after crossing over the boundary wall and reached Kotwali police station," he said.

Sub inspector Sonu Sitole, who is investigating the case, said that the elder sister accused Malviya of raping her in the past.

The medical examination of both the sisters confirmed rape.
