A joint family, bickering over wealth, misuderstanding and final clearing of the air - all  make up ‘Pramani’, which has nothing much fresh to offer.

Panchayat president Viswanatha Panicker (Mammootty), first appears as a shrewd land-grabber. With his cousin Somashekharan (Siddhique) in tow, he intervenes in all sorts of land disputes in his area and tactfully buys the land at reduced price. Panicker’s Uncle Sam attitude, earns him the pet name ‘America’.

On the contrary, there is Castro Vareeth (Janardhanan), the president of a nearby panchayat for whom ‘Fidel Castroism’ is in his blood. But Vareeth always hopes that Viswanatha Panicker would one day discover the goodness dormant in him and renounce his corrupt ways.
