Uncle arrested for bid to abduct girl

Kavita (21) of Byatarayanahalli near Betamanagala was in love with Manjunath, a resident of Betamanagala New Town. She is said to have eloped with Manjunatha a week ago and married him at Mulbagal. The family members of Kavita, who were against the marriage were searching for the girl.

A compromise meeting was held in the office of the Deputy Superintendent of Police in Champion Reefs.The girl insisted that she would lead life with Manjunath and the police advised her to act according to her wish. They also convinced the her parents that they cannot intervene since the girl is a major.

Even as all were having dinner at a hotel near Robertson pet Police station at 9 pm, Mohan Raj, the uncle of Kavita attempted to abduct her and flee the spot in a four-wheeler. However, Manjunath screamed for help and the public nearby came to rescue. They even attempted to thrash Mohan Raj. His two accomplices took to heels.

Police arrived at the spot immediately and brought Mohan Raj along with the vehicle to the station.He has been remanded into judicial custody for 15 days.

Complainants’ Day
KGF police will observe Complainants’ Day on Sunday. Public can obtain information on cases and give suggestions from 11 am to 3 pm on the occasion, a release said.
