I-T raids contractors' houses in Vijayapura

Officials of the Income Tax (I-T) department, on Wednesday, raided the residences of seven people, including contractors of the departments of water resources, public works and power.

The raids were conducted on the houses of contractors Sharanappa Alura, Sadashiva Chikkareddy, Bheemashi Biradar, Nandyagol, M C Guddodagi, Mahadev Gacchinamath and Sudhir Biradar. I-T department sources said documents were seized from the houses of those raided.

The officials, who arrived in groups in private vehicles, scrutinised the documents since morning. They refused to provide any details.
