<p>Uppinangady police on Monday arrested the owner of a hotel for allegedly assaulting a labourer who succumbed to the injuries he sustained.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Police arrested K V George, owner of Lavathadka in Uppinangady. The deceased is hotel worker Srinivas. George reportedly assaulted Srinivas after the latter had a heated exchange of words with a customer at the hotel. The injured worker succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital on Sunday.</p>.<p class="bodytext">While admitting the injured to the hospital, George reportedly told the hospital authorities that he suffered injuries after a fall in the hotel. He later changed his statement that some unidentified men came in a car and assaulted Srinivas.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The police grew suspicious and started an investigation with the help of Mangaluru CCB sleuths. During the interrogation, he confessed that it was he who had assaulted the deceased.</p>
