Medical colleges, hospitals at all districts soon: CM

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that medical colleges and the state-of-the-art hospitals at all the districts in the state would be established soon.

Speaking after unveiling the statue of former minister K Puttaswamy during the diamond jubilee celebration of Vidyavardhaka Sangha, here, Siddaramaiah said, the state has 18 medical colleges, and another six colleges have been sanctioned. Foundation stone for the new colleges will be laid in January 2018. The medical colleges were sanctioned during his term as the finance minister, he said.

The CM said, "My father wanted me to become a doctor but I did not get a medical seat as I scored low marks in PUC. I had approached the then Medical Education minister Puttaswamy with the help of an MLA. But, due to less marks, I failed to get the seat. There were only four medical colleges in the state then," Siddaramaiah recalled.

Suttur Seer Shivaratri Deshikendra Swamiji released the book, 'Vidanamandaladalli K Puttaswamy' authored by S Jayappagowda.

Someshwaranatha Swami of Adichunchanagiri Mutt, District in-charge and PWD Minister Dr H C Mahadevappa, MP Pratap Simha, MLAs Vasu, G T Devegowda, K Venkatesh, Mayor M J Ravikumar, Vidyavardhaka Sangha president Gundappagowda, secretary P Vishwanath, D Madegowda and others were present.
