Tanveer Sait gets Rs 10 cr threat call

Bengaluru: Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Tanveer Sait has lodged a complaint with DG&IGP stating that he has received threat messages and calls on his mobile phone from a caller claiming to be an associate of underworld don Ravi Poojary.

The international calls were over Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) and came to the minister's phone while he was on a tour to Sira and was returning back to the city on Saturday.

The caller demanded a ransom of Rs 10 crore to be handed over to don Ravi Poojary and threatened to shoot him dead if the ransom was not paid, the minister said in the complaint.

Sait has brought this to the notice of Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy and the DG&IGP asking for more security cover. He has also written to the chief minister.
