Art literacy camp tomorrow

The N G Pavanje Chair in Fine Arts, Mangalore University, is organising an art literacy camp in association with the Mangalore University First Grade College, Mangalagangothri (a constituent college of the University) on January 29, at the Yakshagana Kala Mandira of the University from 10 am to 4 pm.

A release from the coordinator of the chair Prof Ravishankar Rao said that Mangalore University vice chancellor Prof K Byrappa will inaugurate the camp. Artists P S Punchithaya, Ganesha Somayaji, Anantha Padmanabha and Sharath Holla will be the resource persons.

The camp is aimed at building awareness about art in students by giving them exposure to basic drawing skills, which is a mandated area for the chair. About 75 students are expected to participate in the camp. The camp is the first in a series of scheduled programmes for the year, including the N G Pavanje Endowment Lecture in February 2018, among others.
