KSOU students launch signature campaign, seek mercy killing

The students of the Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) have launched a signature campaign, seeking mercy killing.

A group of KSOU students will sign a memorandum to be submitted to the President in this regard. The format is being circulated among the other KSOU students.

A similar movement is making waves on the social media, where the students of the KSOU have been seeking mercy killing. "Despite repeated appeals, the Centre has not cared to direct the University Grants Commission to recognise the courses. We have neither degree nor job. How can we support our family? The KSOU courses have no recognition since 2013. We are suffering for no sin of ours," they said.

They alleged that the BJP leaders are behind the UGC not recognising the KSOU. "Most of the institutions that had entered into agreement with the KSOU belong to BJP leaders. They have collected fees from gullible youth for the courses. If the KSOU gets recognition, they will be required to conduct classes. So, they have been pressuring HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar not to recognise the courses, so that they can get away, citing the de-recognition," they said.
