A group of hostel students Gayatri Junior college on Wednesday reported that they discovered nearly 120 kilograms of Ganja (cannabis) hidden under their beds in cartons marked as exam question papers.  They alleged that it was kept there by their warden.

The boys staying in the hostel on  Wednesday night discovered over 120 kilograms of Ganja wrapped in bundles and packed in separate cartons marked as question papers, placed under their beds.

Hoping to find examination papers in the cartons, some of them opened the boxes only to find Ganja inside the packages. Around 12 cartons were discovered by boys who immediately called the police. Suryapet Circle Inspector Sankar Naik who arrived at the hostel seized the cartons and wanted to question the warden, but he went missing immediately after the incident.

"The warden Nagayya switched off his mobile phone and is absconding. The boys allege his involvement in stashing of contraband. Preliminary enquiry revealed that the warden is a native of Mahububabad which is close to the forest area and is a breeding ground of Ganja," Sankar Naik said. The police suspect that the Ganja is meant for sale in lucrative drug market nearby Hyderabad. Police say that the warden must be using the hostel as a safe haven for the smooth transit of ganja.

Meanwhile, several student unions staged a protest in front of the college alleging hand of the college management in the Ganja trade. Students relented after police promised thorough investigation and action on the culprits.
