Rlys to hold exams in regional languages soon

Last Updated 26 April 2010, 18:33 IST

The Railways will conduct examinations in regional languages and allow candidates to write exams in their own places  from next round to prevent the kind of troubles that brewed in Karnataka sometime back.

S S Khurana, the Chairman of Railway Board told newspersons here on Monday that the department is considering helping candidates take the examination in local places, where the recruitments are being made.

“It will provide for a maximum opportunity for the locals. There is no question of giving region or language based quota,” he said in reply to a question.

It can be recalled that a protest from Kannada activists turned violent across Mysore and Bangalore when the protesters demanded quota for Kannadigas and opposed candidates from North Indian states appearing for the railway recruitment examination at centres in the State.
