Revisiting Dandupalya gang

Last Updated 02 March 2018, 19:32 IST

Anything written and filmed around crime is exciting. And Sandalwood has its share of filmmakers who, in fact, specialise in making crime thrillers.

If director Srinivas Raju revisited the Dandupalya gang, the notorious criminals whose gory murder and crimes had hit the headlines some years ago in 'Dandupalya 2', he will conclude the story in 'Dandupalya 3' which is slated to release in the second week of March.

Srinivas who has written the story, screenplay and directed 'Dandupalya 3', informs that the concluding part will delve into the crime scenario and put out the police version. "The last part will talk about the gang's inspiration to commit crimes, how they escaped the clutches of law and the manipulation involved," says Srinivas. The director is thrilled that years of research has paid off.

"No filmmaker has attempted to tell a story using the same star cast and story. It hasn't been an easy journey for me but I was able to tide over the challenges," adds Srinivas. The movie has been shot in and around Bengaluru and Mysuru. The director says that the film has also been shot on sets that have been created just for the film. "The jail scene has been shot on a specially created jail set in Palace Grounds. It cost us nothing less than Rs 40 lakh," he says. The film has actors Pooja Gandhi, Ravi Kale, Makarand Deshpande and P Ravishankar essaying prominent roles.
