Fakir Muhammed Katpadi, 5 others selected for Beary Academy awards

The Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy will host an award function to give away the Beary Academy Honourary Awards for the year 2016-17.

Addressing reporters here on Wednesday, academy chairman Karambaru Muhammed said that the awardees for the year 2016 are Fakir Muhammed Katpadi (literature and research), Aboobakar Mannagundi (folk) and Aboobakar Baddur (beary art).

The awardees for the year 2017 are Umar U H (literature), Aziz Baikampadi (beary art) and B M Hassainar (folk).

The award function will be held at Raitha Bhavana, Mudigere on March 13 at 10 am. Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai will inaugurate it. Food and Civil Supply Minister and Urban Development and Haj Minister R Roshan Baig will confer the awards.

The award comprises of Rs 50,000, a citation and a memento.

International Women's Day

Beary Academy will observe World Women's Day at Talent Research Foundation Hall in Kankanadi, Mangaluru on March 8 at 10 am.

Academy chairman Karambar Muhammed will inaugurate. Sessions will be held on various issues concerning women. Journalists Seetalakshmi Karkikodi, Shahnaz M and Talent Research Foundation advisor Mumtaz Pakkalada will take part. Women achievers Khairunnisa Syed, Mafaz Sarafuddin and Ayishat Rafiz will be felicitated on the occasion.

A multilingual poets symposium will be held later.

Beary Academy registrar B Chandrahas Rai, members Bashir Baikampadi, Arif Padubidri, Hasanabba and others were present in the press meet.
