92 prisoners released for good conduct

As many as 92 convicts serving life sentence at seven central prisons across the state, including Parappana Agrahara Central Prison in Bengaluru walked to their freedom on Wednesday. They were released for their good conduct.  

Speaking at the function at the Central Prison, Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy said that the prisoners had been imparted various skills such as baking and carpentry with which they can earn their livelihood. The minister handed over certificates to the released prisoners. The released convicts include 90 who were serving life sentence on murder charges and two were facing charges of kidnap. A total of 1,255 prisoners have been released in the last three years.

Sharanagouda (38) from Sindagi in Vijayapura who served 17 years in central prison spoke on behalf of released convicts. "I committed crime in spur of the moment,'' he said.

All convicts, identified for release were brought from various central prisons across the state to Bengaluru.
