Police offer rifle training for civilians

Addressing a press meet here on Wednesday, Additional SP Ramesh said the training is an attempt to instill confidence and to introduce pro active policing and public-friendly atmosphere in the district. The training will be started before the onset of monsoon. The training will be given in different batches between 7 am and 8.30 am and 4.30 pm and 6 pm.

He said all those citizens who are above 18 years old are eligible for the training. However, the applicants should not have any criminal background.

The application forms will be issued at Mangalore, Panambur and Puttur DySP office. The cost of the application is Rs 250 and the last date for submitting application form is May 5. The training will be given at all the three places. A certificate will be issued to all those who undergo training. District police is planning to give training to 500 citizens during the period.

No parking zone

To a query on the implementation of parking zone notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner, Ramesh said the notification will be implemented after installing traffic sign boards.
