Girl jumps off terrace to escape molestation

In a spine-chilling and alarming incident, a 12-year-old girl jumped from the terrace of a building at Nalasopara in Palghar district.

The incident took place on Tuesday, however, it came to light when the video went viral on Friday.

The unidentified man, who was seen molesting the girl in the video, is yet to be caught.

The Tulinj Police Station has registered a case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act and efforts are underway to nab the culprit.

According to reports, the man asked the girl about an address and while she was leading him, he started molesting her.

The scared girl went to the terrace of a four floor building in Alkapuri area.

Locals rushed below and asked her not to jump. They also managed to get a bedsheet to reduce the impact.

In the process, the girl sustained serious injuries and fractures on her hip.

She is currently admitted in the Nair Hospital in Mumbai.

Further investigations were in progress and CCTV footage of nearby places are being examined.

Police officials were unavailable for comments.
