Yuva Brigade to clean river Cauvery from April 12

Yuva Brigade will take up a River Cauvery cleanliness drive in the catchment area for four days from April 12, said Brigade head Chakravarthi Soolibele.

Speaking at the Pathrika Bhavana on Tuesday, he said the river will be cleaned at Nelyahudikeri-Siddapura, Kushalnagar, Ramanathpura and Srirangapatna. Brigade members from different parts of the state will take part.

"The row over sharing Cauvery water increases when there is water crisis. The protest will not yield any result. There is a need to create an atmosphere for river Cauvery to thrive," he said.

He said a few religious rituals are polluting river Cauvery. One needs to be cautious and ensure that river does not go dry. "If river Cauvery dries up, then the culture will be destroyed."
