Hundreds of fish found dead

The waste let out by the nearby fishmeal unit is said to be the reason for contamination of water. It may be recalled that the villagers had earlier staged protest against the fishmeal units following which the authorities concerned had asked the units to install necessary equipment to purify the contaminated water within four months.

Though the equipment was installed, the leakage in the pipeline is said to be reason for water pollution. Villagers allege that many complaints have been registered against the fishmeal unit, but the authorities concerned have completely ignored the petitions of villagers. Since a month the pollution has spread to the nearby villages like Enagudde, Mattu, Kote and Katapadi.
