Shreyas narrowly misses century

At stumps on day two of the three-day tie at the Adhiyaaman College ground in Hosur, North had stumbled to 183 for four in response to South’s intimidating 414, a struggling innings revived by an unbroken fifth-wicket stand between Nikhil Gangtha (51 n.o.) and Gaurav Kochar (30 n.o.).

Overnight 321 for seven, South saw Shreyas add just seven to his overnight 86, but were well served by M Darshan’s 75 as they piled on the runs with which to attack North. The consistent Gurkirat Singh was North’s most successful bowler alongside Aakash Vashist, the duo sharing six wickets equally.

Unmukt Chand led the North reply with 60, but once Aparajith got into his wicket-taking act, South got on top before they were held up by the undefeated fifth-wicket stand.
