Last Updated 11 May 2010, 09:26 IST

ICC match referee Jeff Crowe imposed the fine after West Indies were ruled to be two overs short of its target at the end of the match against India at Kensington Oval, Barbados, on Sunday when time allowances were taken into consideration.

Captain Chris Gayle was fined 40 per cent of his match fee while his players received 20 per cent penalties. If Gayle, as captain, is guilty of two further similar over-rate offences in Twenty20 internationals over the next 12 months, he will receive a one-match suspension as per the provisions of the ICC Code of Conduct.

In accordance with the ICC Code of Conduct regulations governing minor over-rate offences, players are fined 10 per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount.
