On the path of perseverance

H P Khincha, the Vice-Chancellor of Visvesvaraya Technological University and the chief guest for the function, gave way awards to meritorious students and delivered the graduation ceremony address.

He called upon the students to live up to the expectations of the society and that of their parents. Uday B Desai, director of IIT Hyderabad and the guest of honour, advised the
students to make the best use of the opportunity they have.

“Youngsters have the responsibility to narrow the gap between the richest and the poorest. At the same time, the older generation should guide the youth in the right direction. Once you become the alumni of the institution, you should give something back as a gesture of gratitude,” he said.

M R Doreswamy, the founder chairman, said the outstanding students, excellent faculties and the international-level infrastructure of the institution are the tools of its success. “PES stands for Perseverance, Excellence and Service. And that should be the goal of every outgoing student,” he said.

The VTU rank holders of 2009 in post-graduation and graduation were honoured with medals and certificates. Ravikiran J, who bagged the first rank in BE Computer Science from VTU, expressed his happiness.

He was also given the award for the best outgoing student of 2009 from PESIT. “I was privileged to study here and my teaching staff and the college management were very cooperative. They encouraged me all the way. Learning was fun here and I am thankful to my HOD, who helped me in preparing international seminar papers,” he said.

Sharada rendered a beautiful invocation song in Kalyani raga. K Papa Rao, president of PES institutions, unveiled the scroll of honour which contained the picture and details of all the rank holders. D Jawahar, CEO of PES institutions was present on the occasion.
