A stock of 4.5 lakh tonnes has been maintained in the State at present. A written request has been made to the Centre to provide another four lakh tonne in view of the requirements, he stated.<br /><br />He informed that necessary steps have been taken to avoid scarcity of fertilisers and sowing seeds during monsoon. State has a stock of 10 lakh tonne sowing seeds at present.<br />The minister expressed displeasure that farmers were protesting in Davangere despite announcing scientific support price for paddy. <br /><br />“It is the Union Government which fixes the support price. However, I will write a letter to the Centre seeking revision of the support price in the wake of farmers’ protest,” Ravindranath said.<br /><br /></p>
