According to reports, the labourers were caught unawares when the over 500-foot chimney at the 500 MW power project, which is under construction, collapsed around 1:30 pm. Sources said the rescue operation had been launched. “Heavy machines and cranes have been pressed into service to remove debris,” officials said.
Two units of 250 MW each were under construction at the site by the National Building Construction Corporation.
UP Power Corporation chairman Navneet Sehgal and other senior officials have rushed to Paricha to supervise the rescue operations, sources said.
