Giving details, a defence spokesman Lt Col J S Brar said troops deployed along the Line of Control (LoC) observed suspicious movement in Tangdhar sector during the wee hours.
He added that the security forces later found a group of infiltrators who were trying to sneak into this side from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.
“The troops challenged the infiltrators, who opened fire and attempted to escape under the cover of darkness. The fire was retaliated and in the ensuing fire fight, both the militants were killed,” Lt Col Brar said.
He stated that the identity of the slain militants was not immediately established. The defence spokesman revealed that the operation against the infiltrators was still going on in the area.
