'We were confident of defending the target'

“We thought 140-plus would be a good total on this wicket. The ball was seaming and bouncing in the first few overs. They gave us an opportunity by bowling wides and no-balls in the first few overs. We carried on that momentum and were very happy we got to 150,” Dilshan said here on Friday.

Pakistan skipper Younis Khan blamed wayward bowling for his team’s defeat. “We have conceded 20 extras and lost the match by 19 runs. There is no excuse for that. We are struggling with starts in bowling. Sohail Tanveer has been one of the best bowlers especially in the shorter forms of the game but he is not clicking and that has not helped us,” Younis said.

The right-hander said the batsmen failed to give them good starts. “Our batsmen have failed to provide good starts. We lost back to back wickets so we were playing catch-up. We needed our top-order batsmen to go all the way. We were chasing easily at one stage when myself and Misabh were playing but we could not get going,” he added.
