"The incident happened due to the negligence of the state administration. No alternative route was kept open for emergency situations during the PM's visit...I will submit a detail report of the case to Congress high command tomorrow, he said.

Jaiswal, who visited the bereaved family, said he would write to Chief Minister Mayawati demanding a high-level inquiry into the incident and compensation to the victim's family.
On July 3, eight-year-old Aman, who was critically hurt in an accident, died as he could not be rushed to a hospital due to the heavy security bandobast owing to the prime minister's visit to IIT-Kanpur on that day. The victim's family had alleged that the police did not let them proceed beyond the barricades, citing security measures and also wrote to Congress president Sonia Gandhi to look into the case.

Jaiswal, who is a MP from Kanpur, also demanded Mayawati to initiate action against the guilty policemen and ensure that such an incident does not occur in future
