'Anganwadi workers likely to get pension soon'

Speaking at a programme to distribute fixed deposit certificates of the welfare fund of District Anganwadi Workers and Assistants Federation in Madikeri on Monday, he said “the state government has already proposed the issue of providing pension to the Anganwadi workers who get retired after 60 years in the Session. A high level committee will decide on the quantum pension should be paid. There is no doubt over the payment of pension to the anganwadi workers.”

He urged the government to set right the loopholes in the nutritious food served to the Anganwadi kids. The present food served for the kids looks as if the project of nutritious project was being started for the sake of contractors. The fact that Rs 50 lakh children are benefiting from the food should be understood by the Chief Minister. It is the responsibility of the government to supply nutritious food.”

Deputy Commissioner K H Ashwathanarayana Gowda said “a proposal would be submitted to the Government through Women and Child Welfare department to release equivalent amount to the Anganwadi Workers Welfare fund.”

SP Manjunath Annigeri suggested to set up Anganwadi Workers and Assistants Arogya Bhagya Fund for the medical facilities to the workers.

Kithur Rani Chennama award winner Pandana Shailaja was felicitated on the occasion. State Anganwadi Association Vice-President T P Ramesh also spoke. Women and Child Welfare department in charge Deputy Director A M Madappa, District Anganwadi Workers and Assistants Federation President K P Kaveriamma were present.
