Resonating some Eastern thoughts

Equanimity with small spaces describes the works of art by Shailaja Gidwani.
These small detailed works are to be looked at closely and revisited.

Using watercolours, inks and acrylics, the artist works intuitively with a steady hand and practised strokes of the brush.

Shailaja is inspired by the mystery of nature, its beauty and of it being in order, its
formations being continuous and undisturbed.

In the paintings, the areas are broken into harmonious sections and frequently cut into by lines that create intricate patterns and spaces.

The works that will be exhibited are the meditative impressions of the artist, who has deep roots in the East and is a part of the Indian diaspora living in Hong Kong.

These works share a kinship, they resonate with Eastern thoughts and ideas.
