Christians plea to withdraw church attack cases

In a press release, Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh Political Convener Sushil Noronha said that though Justice Somasekhara Commission, in its interim report, had recommended the government to withdraw criminal cases against the Christians, no step has been taken over the issue till date.

“Though the government has withdrawn several criminal cases connected with various other issues, it is not taking any steps to implement the recommendations of Justice Somasekhara Commission, following which many youth and students are facing hardships,” he said and added that the government is neither speeding up the investigation nor withdrawing the cases.

In the memorandum submitted to Chief Minister, Home Minister and District-in-Charge Minister through Additional DC Prabhakar Sharma, Holy Cross Parish Priest Fr Valerian Pinto appealed the authorities concerned to withdraw all criminal cases against Christian youths as recommended by Justice Somasekhara panel.

Unit President Marriet Pinto, Secretary Pauline D’Souza, Henry D’Souza, Alban Pinto, Celestine Crasta, Leo Mascarenhas, Victor Vas were present.
