BBMP Palike Commissioner Siddaiah visited several areas in the City on Wednesday and was furious to see the shopkeepers spread over their goods on the footpaths.
He took the engineers to task for turning a blind eye towards the encroachment of pavements which endangered the lives of the pedestrians, who are compelled to walk on the streets. Unscientific designing and construction of pavements also irked the Commissioner.
The Commissioner issued a circular directing his staff to clear all the encroachment from footpaths, remove unwanted projections, illegal parking on the roadsides, garbage removal from roadsides and pavements, repair of buildings, construction of footpaths using quality slabs, proper placing of slabs on drains, and rectifying the cables and wires hanging very low.
He instructed the executive engineers to implement the orders and submit a report.
