The petitioners had moved the High Court stating that the admission process remains a secret, as the schools never state reasons for rejecting the students.
Observing that education has been commercialised, the petioners submitted that meritorious students and those hailing from weaker sections of the society do not have place.
Pointing out that the petitioners had given a representation to the Principal Secretary, Department of Primary Education, to issue appropriate order to bring in transparency in the process of selection and allotment of seats and criteria for selection.
The division bench comprising Justice N K Patil and Justice A S Bopanna has directed the State government to consider the representation of petitioners.
