'Student dies after consuming hostel food in Mudigere'

 It is said that Arpitha had food along with many other students in the hostel on Monday. While all other students are fine, Arpitha breathed her last on Monday. However, the reason for her death can be ascertained only after the post mortem report is out.

District Backward and Minorities Welfare Department Deputy Director Jagadish has informed that compensation of Rs 1 lakh will be handed over to the family of Arpitha, a 6th standard student of Mudigere Morarji Desai Residential school.

Protest

Various students unions and Dalit organisations staged a protest on Tuesday demanding better facilities in BCM hostels. They said that more compensation should be provided to the family of Arpitha. Taking out a procession, the protesters said that there is no drinking water in the said hostel and the staff working in the hostel do not take proper care of the students.

They said that since there are no proper facilities in the hostel, the students used to get water from different places and prepare their own food. It is due to this acute negligence of the department concerned that Arpitha lost her life.
