Cultural forum of Marimallappa's College inaugurated

If you thought we were describing the latest movie in town, you definitely got it wrong. We are talking about the programmes held at the inauguration of the cultural forum at Marimallappa Pre-University College in Jaganmohan Palace Auditorium in the city on Thursday.

Jamp-packed

In a jam-packed auditorium, the youthful-excitement of the inauguration was visible on the face of participants and the audience of college-goers.

Speaking at the inauguration of the cultural forum, Department of Income Tax, Additional Commissioner, Jayarama Raipur, said that students should read more books on literature, as it will improve a person’s language.

Instead of wasting their free time, students should dedicate it to studies. A person without knowledge of literature, won’t be a famous man, he opined.

Students should know about the happenings in around them. Even if talented persons leave the country for greener pastures, they won’t receive as much recognition as they receive here.

He said that Infosys has caught the attention of the world and is an example for all of us as it was founded by Kannadigas. India is stepping towards becoming a model country, he said.

Marimallappa institution honorary secretary K N Panchaksharaswamy, Pre-University Education Department, Deputy director, K Chandramma, college principal, Prof Puttachari, vice principal Prof M E Shankarappa, lecturers Dr S Vishwanath and M Prasad were present.

Sports meet inaugurated

Vidhyaashram Pre-University College in association with Department of PU education, Mysore hosted the opening ceremony of the district-level sports meet for boys at St Philomena’s College grounds, in the city.

K Chandramma deputy director, K Rakesh Raje Urs, Chairman Vidhyaashram Pre-University College, Govindappa Prinicipal Govt PU College, Bannur, K N Vasudeva Principal and President of Principal’s Association and N Chandrappa, Principal Govt PU College, Hunsur were present.

Chandramma urged the students to take up sports activities along with the studies. The progamme started with the prayer by Pannaga P followed by the welcome speech by Sachin S M.

On behalf of the students, Raghu took the oath and the vote of thanks was rendered by Chaithra.
