Two women washed away in flashfloods in Karnataka

The 14-year-old girl, who was returning home with her mother in Hodebeeranahally, was washed away while crossing a river. However, the mother managed to swim to safety, Revenue Department officials said.

In another incident, a 40-year-old woman was washed away in Malaganahally nala, which is overflowing due to heavy rains in Malamadagi village, they said.Following discharge of excess water from Chandrampalli and Upper Mulla Mali dams, at least 12 villages in Chincholi taluk have been marooned.

The Sedam-Gulbarga road remained cut-off for vehicular traffic as the Kaginala river was overflowing, they added.
