Designer Ramesh Dembla knit together a unique creation for a good cause. He made a sculptor’s dream come true.

The designs were woven around a sculptor’s prayer that his sculptures come alive at least for a day. Ramesh worked around the sculptor’s dream where the sculptures doubled as models. Ramesh’s designs were royal and majestic in their look and appeal. The elaborate hairdos and light make-up did well in highlighting the garment.

The line for the evening comprised lehengas, ghagra choli and saris. “I have used vibrant colours to give the theme a royal finish. There’s heavy work on the sari and it’s netted at some places. There’s a lot of gold, embellishments and stone work thrown into the creation,” says Ramesh Dembla.

The fashion show, Neo was organised as a fundraiser in collaboration  with Rotary and Innerwheel Bangalore South West. Although it started almost two hours late, the show was worth the wait.

The music was in perfect sync with the choreography. The colourful hairdos that were made in different shapes and sizes were placed on the models.  “I’ve played around with materials such as georgettes and chiffons. Nets and laces have been knitted at the borders to enhance the look of the garment,” says Ramesh.

The funds raised during the event will go toward opening a neo-natal intensive care unit at P D Hinduja Sindhi Hospital. “We thought we’d have a fashion show as a fundraiser because shows like these bring in the crowd. We hope to use the funds to construct a five bedded ICU,” said Dr Sameer Hariani, District Joint Secretary, Rotary. The evening saw the invitees, Rotarians and the P3Ps arrive in full strength. And they all donated rather generously towards a worthy cause. The donor passes that were priced Rs 1,000 each were all sold out in a jiffy. The showstopper for the evening was Jennifer Kotwal.
