The protesters demanded allotment of sites in Andlarahalli, Kuppalli, Tippenhalli, Bachchanahalli, Ganganamidde and Timmakkankunte villages for those without shelter.

They demanded that a high-level inquiry panel probe the misuse of nearly 22.75 per cent of the funds released by the City Municipal Council for the cobblers to set up their kiosks between 2005 and 2010.

They also demanded that work on the proposed community hall in the Scheduled Caste colony be launched at the earliest.

Curb sale illicit liquor

Their other demands included: Curbing sale of illicit liquor which is rampant across the district; a separate Dalit Budget with action plan and auditing, specifically for the welfare of the dalits; CoD probe into irregularities in the implementation of Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee scheme; cancelling outsourcing at the Social Welfare Department and regularising services of the chefs with more than 10 years of working experience.

The protesters also demanded that they should regularise the cultivation under the Bagarhukum.

They sought action against the police who harass the dalits. The unit system should be replaced with distribution of ration cards under the PDS system. Crematorium in each village should be fenced to check encroachment upon the land. Rajakanta, A Krishnappa, C V Gangappa, B V Anand, B M Venkatesh, Tyagaraj, Kottur Venkatesh and K Karagappa were present on the occasion.
