'C'magalur in 28th place in implementing housing schemes'

 It is learnt that disappointed by the slow progress being achieved, Zilla Panchayat CEO Sundar Naik has instructed the EOs of all taluk panchayats to expedite the housing scheme works.

Importance should be given for the speedy implementation of Indira Awas, Ashraya, Ambedkar housing schemes. Officials themselves should approach the beneficiaries and distribute the cheques after inspecting the phase of construction, he has reportedly told the officials.

It has also been learnt that many gram panchayats have slipped in selecting beneficiaries for the housing schemes in the present year. About 40 per cent of the beneficiaries have been dropped during the ZP’s cross check.

Chikmagalur Taluk Panchayat EO Shivegowda has asked all gram panchayat secretaries to get back the amounts from those who have neglected the construction works after two phases.  Gowda said the letter to authorise the commence of the construction has been given to 1,195 beneficiaries in the taluk.
