Both speakers and delegates unanimously agreed the need for adopting new technologies to be competitive in the market. Further they said, over the past couple of years, cloud computing and virtualisation has witnessed increased adoption in the country.

According to EMC Corporation Senior Vice-President & CIO Sanjay Mirchandani “cloud computing has become on of the top priority of the CIOs worldwide. The new business model needs agility and both private and public cloud offer agility to the business.”

Experts also believe that going forward the industry will witness more demand for ‘as-a-service’ model for their IT needs than the traditional way of licensed model. The larger adoption of cloud and virtualised technology will make infra as a service, software as a service and storage as a service as business norm.

“Cloud computing and desktop virtualisation can bring in ease of use and automation for various service offerings for enterprises,” said Citrix System India Sub Continent Area Vice-President Sanjay Deshmukh.

Though cloud based offering provide flexibility and cost advantage, it still throws out a major worry, which hinders the faster adoption in this technology.

The major concern for industry in adopting the cloud and virtualised platform is the security. They also believe that when niche and specialised players further will enhance the market and almost the worries can be addressed.
