MEG has lined up various activities during the course of the celebrations from September 27-30 including the Biennial Regimental Commanders Conference (BRCC), Regatta (series of boat races on the Ulsoor Lake), ceremonial parade, Sainik Sammelan, sports tournaments et al.

Speaking at the curtain raiser for the celebrations, Brigadier Gurdip Singh said: “We are excited to be a part of this celebration, part of the history at MEG.”

MEG had also organised a massive cycle rally –– ‘Thambi Udhaar-IV’ –– which saw four teams from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala start their journey from different points on September 4, before being flagged in at the MEG centre here on Friday. The rally, they said, was organised to attract youth into the army. Lieutenant General (Retired) Mathew Mammen, who welcomed the rally, expressed happiness over the initiatives undertaken by the centre.

As a part of the Army Headquarters’ IT initiative (Project Kshamata) in association with Microsoft, several army personnel are being trained at the centre in IT and English skills.
Microsoft is providing for the technology and also training “master trainers” who are in turn training army personnel.
