One of the aims of the test is to familiarise students with the format of the test. Prometric, the testing agency is planning to host the examination a month before CAT.
CAT score is used for admission into Indian Institutes of Management and premier B-schools of the country. But, the first computerised edition of the test was marred by technical glitches and server crashes across the country. The official testing agency has announced a series of reforms to avoid repetition of last year’s problems.
This year, the mock test will be available a month before the real test on www.catiim.in to make candidates acquainted with the navigation and functionality of CAT. However, officials state the practice tests are not representative of the content or the difficulty level of the actual test. The mock test will also be preceded by a short tutorial.
The tutorial will explain how to navigate around the screen and explain icons like question number, on screen timer, next button, previous button, mark button, review button as well as quit test button.
It will also explain how to use review screen to identify which questions have been completed, marked or incomplete and reviewing marked as well as incomplete questions.
12 questions
The sample test will have 12 questions. Each question will have four options. Candidates will read the question on the screen and click on the circle next to their answer. They can change their answer simply by clicking on any other circle. Three points are awarded for each correct answer and one point is deducted for a wrong answer.
Aspirants will have 15 minutes for this practice test and they can return and try the practice test as many times as they want.
