Joachim Lobo, a schoolteacher, stands in his makeshift shelter in the Loda IDP camp near Fataki, in Ituri province, northeastern Democratic Republic of Congo. He was forced to flee his village in June after an attack by armed men. Fataki and surrounding villages have been targeted by recurring armed attacks by militiamen that have driven tens of thousands of people from their villages. Since the end of 2017, the conflict in Ituri has left several hundred people dead and more than one and a half million displaced. Most of the massacres are attributed to armed militias belonging to the Lendu community and claiming to defend themselves against the Congolese army and the Hema community. Credit: AFP Photo
