Former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi tested positive for Covid-19, becoming the first high-profile cricketer to be infected with the virus. He took to Twitter to inform fans that he has tested positive for coronavirus. Afridi wrote,
Rugani, who is centre-back for Italy and Juventus, was the first player to get infected with SARS-CoV-2 in Italy’s top football league Serie A. Juventus has won eight Serie A titles. Rugani was an unused substitute in the team's last game, at home against Inter Milan. He has now made a complete recovery, the club has confirmed.
On March 11, 2020, Arsenal had announced in an official statement on the club’s website that Manager, Mikel Arteta had been tested positive for Covid-19. Arteta’s diagnosis led to the postponement of Arsenal’s Premier League Game against Brighton. While recovering, he took to Twitter to thank all his well-wishers for their love and support, adding that he has been feeling better already. Now, Arteta has made a complete recovery.
Chelsea star Callum Hudson-Odoi was Premier League’s first Covid-19 positive player. Odio, who has now recovered completely, had posted a video on Twitter where he was seen updating his fans on his condition. Earlier, while in self-quarantine, he had posted a home-workout video as well.
Rudy Gobert, who plays Centre for Utah Jazz, was the first NBA player to test positive for the coronavirus. His teammate, Donovan Mitchell was also tested positive shortly after. Following their diagnosis, NBA had announced a halt on matches for rest of the season. Currently, both Gobert and Mitchell have recovered from Covid-19.
Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant is one of the biggest names in the NBA and is also a former MVP. He was one among the four Nets players to test positive for Covid-19, mid-March. Durant is now symptom free.
